WhatsApp advances in a new feature designed for better organize conversations: responses can be grouped around the original message, by topicWith this organization, topics won't get mixed up, and it'll be easier to follow each conversation in its own space without losing context.
The feature is in the testing phase and has been spotted by WABetaInfo on the beta version 2.25.25.8 for Android, available to some users of the test program on Google Play. For now, access is limited while the company refines details based on real-world usage and feedback.
What changes with threads in WhatsApp
Until now, replying to a message would generate a quote that blended into the rest of the chat. With threads, each message will be able to display a indicator with the number of responses; tapping it will open all related interventions, directly linked to the original.
The derived conversation is presented as a separate subconversation and associated with the message that started it, so that replies do not interfere with the overall flow of the chat and it is easier to maintain context.
The approach is reminiscent of what they already offer Slack, Discord or Telegram, where each topic is grouped around a core message. In highly active groups, this separation reduces noise and helps prevent relevant messages from getting lost among dozens of notifications.

How it works step by step
To enter a thread just press the answer button which appears inside the original message's balloon; it displays all associated replies and the intervention counter in that thread.
Within the thread, you can reply to the initial message or to any reply, and even edit messages if you need to correct something. These are marked as follow up response, making it clear which intervention you are responding to so that the conversation remains structured.
Contributions are added in chronological order and are automatically linked to the correct thread, maintaining topic context at all times even when the main chat is still in progress.
Availability and limits
Threads are applied only to new messages sent after the feature is activated; previous conversations are not retroactively restructured or grouped together after the fact.
The rollout is available to a small number of Android testers and will be expanded gradually. The general release will depend on testing results and user feedback. no confirmed date by the company for the time being.
Impact on groups and work
En large groupsEach topic can be discussed in its own thread, avoiding having to sort through dozens of mixed messages to follow a specific topic. This makes it easier to decide which conversation to participate in and reduces interruptions.
The approach also fits into professional and educational environments, bringing WhatsApp closer to more productive uses similar to those of tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams, where threaded organization is key to collaborating without losing the thread.
The proposal takes shape with several clear pillars: threads linked to the original message, access via a button with a counter, the ability to provide follow-up responses, and initial availability in the Android beta. Everything points to more organized navigation and less noise when chats get especially busy.
