The Glyph Interface has also taken the next step and now has its own app for managing glyphs, sounds, ringtones, and rear LED schedules. In addition, the new Glyph Timer widget allows you to activate a timer right from the start, with the countdown displayed on the back of the device.
AI is becoming more naturally integrated
The Essential AI tool suite also features prominently in this update. The Essential Apps Builder app is now available directly on your phone , allowing you to create small, customized micro-apps for your routine without any coding. Simply describe what you need, and the system generates the widget or tool, similar to what you'd see in Nothing Playground.
Essential Voice, Nothing's voice assistant, is now faster and more accurate at transcribing audio, with intelligent formatting that distinguishes when content should be converted into lists or paragraphs. It's also possible to record sound directly from the Nothing earphone case using the SuperMic feature. Model Contextual Protocol (MCP) technology is now available in Essential Space, allowing saved data to be read by external AI tools.

What happens to old mobile phones?

The Nothing Phone (1), the Nothing Phone (2), and the CMF Phone 1 will not receive Nothing OS 5.0, meaning they will remain on Android 15, Android 16, and Android 16 respectively as their latest operating system version.

In the case of the iPhone (1), the company's first mobile phone, its lifecycle has ended and it will not even receive further security patches.
