Meta has begun to activate in Spain the AI-powered machine translation for Reels on Instagram and Facebook. The feature applies real-time dubbing that maintains the timbre and tone of the original voice, and offers lip sync to improve the realism of the result.
The deployment will be gradual over the next few days and, for now, is limited to English and Spanish. Although it is designed for creators, it can be used by anyone who wants to expand their reach outside of their language, with a tool Without aditional costs and easy to activate.
What this new translation of Reels brings
The tool performs a dubbing into another language from the original video track. The system mimics the timbre and tone of the person to make it sound natural, and lip-syncing can be optionally turned on if you want that smoother experience.
When someone plays the reel, it is shown and heard in the preferred language set up on Instagram or Facebook. To identify it, the videos include a watermark Meta AI Translation in the lower left corner.

Availability and access requirements

How to activate and use the function
The process is integrated into the usual publishing flow: before uploading the video, simply click on Translate your voice with Meta AI, choose whether you want lip-syncing and, if desired, enable preview to check the result.
- Record your reel in your language and go to the previous screen to post.
- Press on Translate your voice with Meta AI and decide whether to add lip syncing.
- Select language (English or Spanish), check the preview and approves the version.
- Publish: the reel will be served automatically in the preferred language of the viewer.
For best performance, Meta recommends speak clearly the camera, reduce background noise, and prevent multiple people from speaking at once, especially in shots with multiple voices.
Additional tools for creators
The company has incorporated a new metric in Insights which shows views by language. This information helps identify where each piece works best and plan more focused content.
In addition, you can upload them on Facebook up to 20 dubbed audio tracks per reel, so that a single publication offers several listening options. The system will serve the corresponding track according to the user language, making it easier to reach diverse audiences with a single video.
With the deployment in Spain, Meta makes available to creators a set of functions of AI dubbing and lip-syncing which initially cover English and Spanish.
