A saga with history: from PSP to the new mobile era
Dissidia was born in 2008 in PSP as a cross between the franchise's heroes and villains, featuring three-dimensional arena combat that blended action and strategy. Its sequel, Dissidia 012 (2011), expanded staff and refined the system.
Later he arrived Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (2018) to consoles and PC, betting on competitive 3v3, while on mobile the series had already explored the turn-based RPG format with The works, and other announcements of new mobile game have shown similar interest. With Duellum, Square Enix (together with NHN PlayArt) It takes up the idea of crossing characters, but with a cooperative formula focused on bosses and designed from the ground up for smartphones.
Game model and what remains to be resolved
Since it is a title free-to-play, sustained progression is expected with events, cosmetics, and periodic rewards. The customization of contemporary outfits and the integration of “Memories” point to a system with room for adjustments and collectibles without interfering with the competitive core.
Aspects such as the seasonal structure, the extent of cross-region matchmaking, and the detail of the additional modes beyond the race against time against bosses, although the first trailer already offers a clear glimpse into the tone and pace of the games.
With everything announced, the project outlines a fast and accessible cooperative experience, based on Final Fantasy iconography, a clear role-playing design, and an urban setting that breaks with the series' norm; the closed beta in November will be the first major test to gauge its fit on mobile.
